Toni conducting a hula workshop at Blanco Family Academy in Angono, Philippines, 2016.

Toni teaches keiki (children) hula and Tahitian dance and culture through afterschool programs in Gardena and Downtown Los Angeles. Her teaching style includes teaching  hula and Tahitian movement vocabulary, basic body mechanics, language, and musicality. Toni uses these elements to reflect upon our relationship to the natural environment, practice oral and embodied traditions, and honor our cultures and the indigenous peoples of the lands we are upon. Through this holistic approach, Toni aims to instill a deeper level of understanding Hawaiian and Tahitian cultures, respect towards other cultures, and the values of self-confidence, reciprocity, teamwork, and how to be a respectful and informed ally.
