Mirr(or) and Filipinx Dance

Toni Pasion Makapuu

“Mirr(or)” is an investigation of basic movements from hula and Philippine dance forms— analyzing their somatic feelings and how they can inspire other movements. This piece utilizes the stage as a place where we can be here and there. By shaking up conventions of linear time and space, the dancer’s intention is to enliven the space, moment, past, present, and future as simultaneous.
